Serica Energy Picks OpenText to Enhance Engineering Information Management

OpenText has announced that Serica Energy, an upstream oil and gas company, has chosen OpenText Content Cloud and OpenText Extended ECM for Engineering to manage engineering data, optimize work processes, and mitigate risk throughout the lifecycle of their projects and operations, all while driving greater operational efficiency.

"Energy companies are under intense pressure to deliver more reliable and sustainable energy without compromising the health of their employees, the safety of the communities they serve, or the environment in which they operate. More than 75% of the top 100 energy and engineering organizations rely on OpenText for enterprise information management to achieve operational excellence through improved collaboration, reduced operational risk and secure, seamless access to engineering drawings and other asset content," said Muhi Majzoub, EVP & Chief Product Officer at OpenText.

Serica Energy aims to increase productivity and improve procedures by using OpenText's cloud-based content management solutions, all while maintaining stringent health, safety, security, and environmental regulations. This will enable the company to broaden and diversify its portfolio, increase the value of its assets, and contribute to the larger energy shift.

Serica has chosen Content Cloud—a flexible platform that connects people to the content they need, exactly when and where they need it—because of its track record of assisting organizations in the energy sector and other asset-intensive industries gain control of their content and work more effectively.

"As Serica Energy enters an exciting phase of growth, it's critical that our asset information is easily accessible, useable, reliable, secure and governed. OpenText will enable us to remove limitations on documentation controls and functionality, allowing us to significantly enhance operational efficiencies and reduce risk in managing asset operations, while leading capital projects planned until 2035 and beyond," said Malcolm Gordon, Information Management Lead at Serica Energy.

The company aims to save significant time and increase productivity by improving information management throughout the business, ensuring projects are finished on time, asset uptime is improved, and operational risks are reduced. Another important component was the extensive integration of OpenText's solution with Serica's existing business applications, which ensured a single source of truth across the firm.

By leveraging OpenText Extended ECM for Engineering, Serica can quickly access accurate, up-to-date engineering and process documentation. This will allow them to manage engineering information better, work processes, and risks, accelerating business value and delivering positive experiences for both their engineers and end users.
