Guest experience platform Akia has announced a $6 million Series A funding round led by Altos Ventures.
Since its launch in 2019, Akia has seen steady growth, mainly in the hospitality industry. The current market situation, labor shortages, and the aftermath of the pandemic have all led to an increased need for Akia's automated customer engagement framework. Akia's platform has helped numerous businesses streamline paperwork, automate processes, and improve customer engagement, resulting in better service for consumers and greater efficiency.
As more than 75% of apps are often abandoned after just one use and people are tired of downloading and using new apps, Akia's Mini Apps offer a solution, as they do not require any download or log in. These mini-apps can help businesses save money, reduce maintenance costs and increase engagement. Companies leveraging Akia's platform can use mini apps to automate and speed up everyday tasks such as verifying identities, collecting security deposits, and even checking in to hotels without any physical contact.
”Securing this new round of funding from Altos is really a validation of our vision. Consumers are tired of poorly made chatbots, waiting on hold for call centers, or downloading apps for single use. We are committed to developing innovative products and services that help businesses respond more effectively and quickly to the changing needs of their customers,” said Evan Chen, CEO of Akia.
Akia has taken advantage of the current trend of shifting towards a contactless first approach as well as the ongoing staff shortages to continue to grow and has a growing influence in the market.
"Akia is paving the path for the next generation of tech-enabled services. The hospitality sector has faced numerous challenges in recent years and will need a system like Akia to delight customers while improving efficiency. We are thrilled with Akia's momentum and have complete confidence in its leadership and long-term vision," said Jim Dai, Partner at Altos Ventures.
