Adobe has started its creativity conference, Adobe MAX 2023, reaching creators and marketers worldwide to showcase cutting-edge AI innovations that will transform creative processes and enterprise content distribution networks.
The conference strongly emphasizes inspiring speakers, major product releases, and community involvement, aiming to usher in a new era of "Creativity for All." These groundbreaking generative AI innovations closely follow on the heels of Adobe's recent advancements.
The company has introduced three new Firefly models - Adobe Firefly Image 2 Model, Adobe Firefly Vector Model, and Adobe Firefly Design Model. These models are designed to generate content suitable for commercial use. The release includes over 100 significant AI features and updates across Adobe's flagship Creative Cloud applications like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Adobe Stock.
Adobe Express, an all-in-one creativity app, now offers additional AI capabilities with Generative Fill, Text to Template, and Translate features. These enhancements make the app faster and more enjoyable for all skill levels. For students, the new Drawing and Painting features provide a significant boost to bringing their creative ideas to life.
“Since the release of our first Firefly image model in March, we’ve been taken aback by the amazing response from the community, who has demonstrated how useful Firefly is to enhancing experimentation and design and speeding up workflows, without compromising creative control. With over 3 billion image generations to date, including more than a billion in the last month alone, the early adoption of Firefly demonstrates the unique power of bringing foundation models into the workflows customers know and love,” said David Wadhwani, President, Digital Media Business at Adobe.
Creative Cloud gets a boost
Building on the success of its Generative Fill feature in Photoshop, which has seen a tenfold increase in adoption, Adobe is now introducing new Firefly-powered workflows in Illustrator, including Text to Vector Graphic. In Adobe Express it is adding Generative Fill and Text to Template capabilities. Creative Cloud is getting a range of innovations, including new tools in Illustrator like Mockup and Retype, updates to Share for Review, and the introduction of Illustrator on the web.
In Lightroom, Adobe is bringing AI-powered enhancements like Lens Blur, HDR Optimization, Point Color, and a more streamlined editing experience on Lightroom mobile.
Adobe has made Photoshop available on the web with Generative Fill and Generative Expand powered by Firefly. This is now accessible on Google Chromebook Plus devices. They've also rolled out AI-powered Text-Based Editing and motion improvements in Premiere Pro and After Effects, as well as easy publishing of video content to platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook from Express and Premiere Pro.
Numerous other new features and improvements are available across Creative Cloud applications.

The new Firefly Design Model facilitates the instant generation of high-quality template designs directly within Adobe Express, including flyers, posters, and invitations. It introduces the Text to Template capability for this purpose.
Adobe Express's latest generative AI updates
Adobe Express users can now harness the power of Generative Fill, guided by Firefly technology, to effortlessly add, remove, or replace various elements, such as objects and people, in images based on a text description. The Text to Template generative AI features, built on the new Firefly Design Model, simplify the design process, allowing users to generate customizable templates from text descriptions. Additionally, users can save time localizing content by translating it into one of 45 languages.
To enhance the drawing and painting experience, Adobe Express introduces over 50 multicolor paint and decorative brushes that mimic textures like charcoal, pencil, and watercolor. These features, including student-friendly drawing templates available in the Express for Education offering, make creating beautiful effects like flowers and hearts quick and easy.
