Introducing Booking.com’s AI Trip Planner: Your Personalized Travel Assistant

Booking.com has unveiled its latest offering - the AI Trip Planner - which incorporates OpenAI's ChatGPT API to deliver a conversational experience that assists users in initiating their trip-planning journey.

"Our primary aim at Booking.com has always been to leverage technology to make travel easier. The recent developments with generative AI are accelerating the work we've been doing for years with machine learning to enhance and improve every aspect of the customer experience on our platform, whether it's optimizing the right order to display a hotel's photos to surfacing the most relevant reviews. Our new AI Trip Planner is simply the next step in our ongoing journey to explore how we can bring even more value, and hopefully enjoyment, to the entire trip planning process," said Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking.com.

Streamlining the search

With the AI Trip Planner, travelers can ask a wide range of travel-related questions. Whether they seek general information or have specific inquiries at any stage of their trip-planning process, the AI Trip Planner is designed to assist. It can help users find suitable accommodation options, offer personalized travel recommendations based on individual preferences, and even create itineraries for specific cities, countries, or regions. This comprehensive tool aims to cater to diverse travel needs and provide valuable support throughout the planning journey.

Personalized travel recommendations

Using the AI Trip Planner, travelers can converse with the virtual assistant to convey their preferences and requirements. Travelers can describe what they are looking for and ask questions in real-time, no matter how broad or specific the questions are. Whether seeking inspiration for romantic beach destinations in the Caribbean or narrowing down a curated list of vacation homes that accommodate a family of four with specific amenities like air conditioning and a pool, the AI Trip Planner offers prompt and conversational recommendations to cater to individual needs.

Visual display of destinations

Furthermore, the AI Trip Planner goes beyond mere recommendations by offering travelers a visual display of destinations and properties. This includes pricing information from Booking.com, accompanied by convenient deep links that allow users to view more details. Customers have the flexibility to seamlessly switch between their conversation with the AI Trip Planner and the Booking.com app interface as they evaluate various options for their trip.

Starting on June 28, the beta version of the AI Trip Planner will be gradually rolled out to an increasing number of Booking.com Genius members in the US. Over the upcoming weeks, these members will gain access to the innovative travel planning tool.
