TELUS International Announces Fine-Tune Studio to Enhance AI Model Accuracy and Safety

TELUS International has unveiled Fine-Tune Studio, a new platform designed to develop high-quality datasets for refining large language models (LLMs) and generative AI (GenAI) technologies.

“As AI continues to be incorporated into the fabric of society and our daily lives, it is more critical than ever that companies make responsible decisions to ensure the accuracy, diversity and integrity of the datasets used to train their models when scaling their GenAI use cases from concepts to pilots to production and beyond. With the launch of Fine-Tune Studio, we have taken another significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to develop proprietary technology that supports our ability to deliver expertly-vetted and validated data that improves our clients’ model performance, adaptability, and safety,” said Siddharth Mall, Vice President, Product for TELUS International AI Data Solutions.

Fine-Tune Studio is a component of TELUS International’s AI Data Platform, which offers fully-managed GenAI data services tailored for developers and users of LLMs. The studio provides datasets tailored for fine-tuning applications in over 100 languages and can be used across various specialized fields such as STEM, healthcare, finance, law, coding, and more. In addition, the studio is equipped to handle multimodal AI projects by supporting labeling tasks that incorporate text, audio, images, and videos, essential for processes like supervised fine-tuning (SFT), reinforcement learning via human feedback (RLHF), direct preference optimization (DPO), and red teaming.

The platform includes built-in AI tools for plagiarism detection, tone analysis, and spelling and grammar checks, enhancing the accuracy of outputs and facilitating task completion, thereby boosting productivity. Fine-Tune Studio also offers customizable workflows for task and quality assurance, allowing clients to select optimal quality control processes, including consensus, algorithmic, deterministic, human-in-the-loop, and probabilistic methods.

Another unique aspect of the AI Data Platform is the Experts Engine, which aligns tasks with the most qualified experts from TELUS International’s extensive global AI community, which consists of over one million contributors. By leveraging expert knowledge, the platform aims to reduce the risks of creating flawed datasets that could mislead AI systems during their training phases.

TELUS International continues to expand its offerings with Fine-Tune Studio, now part of its comprehensive suite of GenAI data services, including Fuel iX, an enterprise AI engine that helps businesses escalate their GenAI projects from pilot phases to full-scale production.
