SoundHound AI has announced the deployment of its SoundHound Chat AI voice assistant, integrated with ChatGPT, in Peugeot, Opel, and Vauxhall vehicles. This new integration is live across 11 European markets and will expand to 17 more, covering 12 different languages.
"Our collaboration with Stellantis has put both companies right at the cutting edge of innovation in the automotive sector, bringing the driver experience into a new and exciting era. SoundHound is proud to deliver voice AI technology that meets the market’s demand for a next generation consumer experience built on natural conversation," said Michael Zagorsek, COO of SoundHound AI.
Back in March, SoundHound AI announced its collaboration with Stellantis’ DS Automobiles, which became the first automaker to fully integrate the latest generative AI technology with SoundHound Chat AI. This voice assistant was initially launched in DS vehicles across 18 countries and supported 13 languages. Now, Stellantis is extending this innovative technology to include Peugeot, Opel, and Vauxhall brands, transforming the in-car experience with interactive knowledge discovery, real-time data, and seamless in-vehicle controls.
Starting in July 2024, the integrated voice assistant will be available in new vehicles from these brands. Moreover, for some previously released models, SoundHound Chat AI with ChatGPT integration can be accessed on-demand via over-the-air updates, eliminating the need for a dealer visit.
The incorporation of SoundHound Chat AI into Peugeot, Opel, and Vauxhall vehicles enables drivers and passengers to use hands-free voice control for a variety of functions. From managing navigation and making calls to accessing real-time information such as sports scores and weather updates, the voice assistant enhances driving convenience and enjoyment.
The integration of ChatGPT into the natural voice recognition system enables users to inquire about various topics—from historical facts to creating stories for children—making trips both informative and entertaining.
