TELUS has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop a new smart living solution leveraging the latest cloud, IoT, ML, and AI technologies. The solution will allow customers to easily install and manage their connected devices and services from different vendors, ODMs, and service providers, reducing complexity and making it easier to automate home management tasks.
The market for connected devices is expanding rapidly, but installing and managing smart home products from different platforms can be complicated for consumers, preventing them from fully understanding their benefits. TELUS's solution works with any device, enabling consumers to integrate multiple connected devices through a single smartphone app provided by TELUS, eliminating the complicated device onboarding processes.
“Most connected devices for the home come with separate apps, logins and disjointed functionality, which hinders the promise of the truly smart home and the ability to scale. With TELUS’ expertise in home security, automation, best-in-class customer service, and world-leading networks, we’re in a unique position to create a new frictionless connected home experience for consumers across services and devices. Leveraging AWS cloud services, TELUS’ smart living solution will enable consumers to manage their new and existing devices from a single interface while using AI and ML to create cross platform automation routines that simplify and enhance consumers’ lives,” said Dwayne Benefield, Senior Vice-president, Connected Home, Entertainment & Enablement at TELUS.
TELUS' smart living solution will utilize AWS's range of services for IoT, ML, and AI to support multiple IoT protocols. This combination will provide a versatile, secure, and expandable infrastructure to integrate new vendors or devices while enhancing the overall user experience for smart home consumers.
“The smart home starts with connectivity, which makes communication service providers uniquely positioned to deliver greater value to their customers in creating a unified experience. The TELUS smart living solution is a compelling example of how communication service providers can leverage their existing customer service solutions and network to solve challenges for their customers – and AWS is pleased to provide services and expertise to help them realize those ambitions,” said Michael Singer, Director for the Telco Industry, North America at AWS.
Meanwhile, TELUS International has recently announced that it has finalized the acquisition of WillowTree after meeting all conditions and regulatory approvals.
