Zoom has revealed the expansion of Zoom IQ, a virtual assistant that summarizes chat conversations, organizes thoughts, generates content for emails, creates meeting agendas, etc. Additionally, the company announced that it would be utilizing OpenAI's technology to enhance its federated approach to AI.
Zoom is using a "federated approach" to AI, meaning that the company will incorporate various types of AI models into its system. This includes its own models, models from other leading AI companies like OpenAI, and even models from some of its customers. With this approach, Zoom can provide more value to customers by tailoring AI models to meet their specific needs.
“Zoom has long built AI solutions into our products to empower customers to be more productive. We are excited to bring many more capabilities with new large language models. Our unique approach to AI will give customers the flexibility they want and help significantly improve collaboration and customer relations,” said Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer, Zoom.
In the modern workplace, employees are struggling to manage multiple tasks such as attending meetings, responding to emails, participating in team chats, and managing projects. Additionally, teams are seeking ways to improve real-time collaboration. To address these challenges, Zoom IQ will be introducing several new features soon, which will assist with:
-
Zoom IQ chat compose feature will help users draft messages that are tailored to the context of the conversation while also allowing them to customize suggested responses by adjusting the tone of their messages.
-
The Zoom IQ email compose feature will soon leverage the capabilities of Generative AI to provide users with suggestions for email drafts that are based on the context of previous Zoom Meetings, Zoom Phone calls, and email threads. This feature will be available initially in Zoom IQ for Sales.
-
The Zoom IQ meeting summary feature will allow users to create a summary of their meetings, capture action items, and share it via Team Chat, Zoom Calendar, and email without the need to record the entire conversation so that people who did not attend will not have to watch lengthy recordings.

Zoom Scheduler streamlines the process of scheduling meetings by allowing hosts to share their availability with others, including external participants, to make it easy to find the perfect time for the meeting. This feature eliminates the tedious back-and-forth of manual scheduling and automatically adds the meeting to the host's calendar with a Zoom Meetings link included, which saves time for both parties. Zoom Scheduler is compatible with Zoom Meetings, Zoom Mail, and Calendar and can be integrated with Google Calendar and Microsoft 365, enabling hosts to use their preferred calendar platform.
