Cognizant and Microsoft Collaborate for a Generative AI Revolution in Healthcare

Cognizant and Microsoft have joined forces to transform healthcare administration by integrating generative AI capabilities. This collaboration, featuring the TriZetto Assistant on Facets, leverages Azure OpenAI Service and Semantic Kernel to embed generative AI directly into the TriZetto user interface. The TriZetto software, powered by Microsoft Azure, is a pivotal tool for healthcare payers and providers, offering benefits such as access to innovation and data insights, process automation, improved regulatory compliance, and enhanced data security.

"Generative AI has the potential to inject $1 trillion into the U.S. economy over the next decade through new revenue streams, operational efficiency and innovation in products, services and ways of working. At Cognizant, we're working closely with clients to understand and implement generative AI into their organizations, helping them unlock and expand value across the enterprise. Through this collaboration with Microsoft, we have infused generative AI capabilities into our TriZetto platform, making it easier for healthcare organizations to realize the full potential of this groundbreaking technology," said Surya Gummadi, EVP and President, Cognizant Americas.

With the aim of elevating the patient experience and transforming healthcare, Cognizant has recently also partnered with Google Cloud and Gilead Sciences.

Benefits of the new assistant

The TriZetto Assistant on Facets is a valuable addition, working alongside human users by sourcing enterprise data, summarizing content, and enriching information. Leveraging TriZetto application programming interfaces, this solution automates actions on behalf of users, facilitating desktop automation to streamline workflows and minimize manual steps. This automation not only enhances user experiences but also increases efficiency and contributes to cost containment on a larger scale.

For instance, the solution simplifies desk-level procedures by contextualizing transactions, offering clear instructions and micro-automations to enhance accuracy and reduce processing time. Generative AI further plays a role in interpreting configuration documents, providing pre-built templates for configurations, thereby accelerating user workflows. With robust User Identity Management, TriZetto software users can access necessary data across various contexts, extending the value of existing investments in TriZetto and Microsoft technologies while ensuring access controls, auditability, and higher accuracy in results.

"Generative AI is having a profound and transformational impact on every industry, including healthcare. Working in close partnership with Cognizant, we are building state-of-the art solutions that alleviate the acute challenges facing providers and insurance companies, while also delivering better patient and member experiences. With that same focus on outcomes-based innovation, we are creating productivity tools, interoperability functionalities, and efficiencies of scale that support healthcare organizations to connect across the broader health and life sciences ecosystems," said Rob Dahdah, CVP of Microsoft's Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry and Partner Sales Organization.
