IBM is expanding its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to assist more shared clients in leveraging and benefiting from generative artificial intelligence (AI). The companies also plan to offer collaborative solutions and services enhanced with generative AI capabilities to support clients in addressing critical use cases.
IBM Consulting and AWS have offered AI solutions and services to clients in diverse industries. They are taking those services to the next level by infusing generative AI capabilities. This will enable clients to rapidly incorporate AI into their business and IT operations on the AWS platform.

The first three solutions to get a GenAI boost
IBM and AWS have developed voice and digital interaction summarization and categorization capabilities using generative AI for Contact Center Modernization with Amazon Connect. These features facilitate seamless transitions between chatbots and live agents while equipping agents with concise information, leading to faster issue resolution and enhanced quality management.
The Platform Services on AWS, first introduced in November 2022, has now been enhanced with generative AI capabilities. This upgrade focuses on streamlining the entire cloud value chain, covering IT operations, automation, and platform engineering. The generative AI tools provided offer clients the means to improve the serviceability and availability of their AWS-hosted applications. This is achieved through intelligent issue resolution and observability techniques, resulting in increased uptime and quicker responses to potential problems.
In the upcoming Supply Chain Ensemble on AWS, a virtual assistant will be introduced to support and enhance the efforts of supply chain professionals. This assistant will assist in meeting customer demands, optimizing inventory, cutting costs, simplifying logistics, and evaluating supply chain risks.
IBM is dedicated to strengthening its proficiency and broadening the integration of AWS with WatsonX. The company has developed significant expertise utilizing AWS's generative AI services, such as Amazon SageMaker and Amazon CodeWhisperer. Additionally, IBM is among the initial AWS Partners to leverage Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that provides industry-leading foundation models (FMs) via an API.

IBM Consulting intends to educate and equip 10,000 consultants in AWS generative AI services by the end of 2024. This initiative is set to enhance their expertise, enable them to collaborate effectively with technical experts, and better assist clients in their innovation efforts on AWS.
